Green beans and mushrooms with Asian flavors.

Beans and Oysters are a great combination for a stir-fry.

These two ingredients are so versatile, I think they need to be cooked and enjoyed as much as possible.

And since both the main ingredients cook under 30 minutes. you can have this vegetarian side dish on your dinner table in minutes(under 30).

What if I don’t have Hoisin sauce, is there a substitute? 

I have two options for you,

If you are not able to find Hoisin sauce in a hurry then make the Oyster mushroom-Bean dish without the sauce, taste it, do you like the taste? then leave it as it is and enjoy it.

But if you taste and find that there is something missing to give the dish much-needed flavor then substitute Hoisin sauce with 1 tablespoon of Soy sauce and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, mix and use as mentioned in recipe instruction.

Can I substitute Oyster mushroom with Button mushrooms?

The reason I chose Oyster mushroom is when you sauté them, the slightly brown edges and bite really helps to add a different texture to the dish.

I am not sure Button mushroom does it but if you really don’t have a substitute then why not try them out?

How to make the mushroom bean stir-fry into a complete meal?

All you need is a few pieces of chicken strips and left-over rice or Tortillas.

How to add chicken and rice to the mushroom bean stir-fry.

Before you begin with the below recipe, season the chicken with a Salt and Pepper grill or skillet fry them and add them at the last minute while you sauté the mushroom and Beans mentioned in the recipe below.

Transfer everything into a separate bowl. using the same pan without washing it, add left-over rice and mix in the seasoning coating the pan with the rice and you have a bowl of rice with chicken, mushroom and bean stir-fry.

How to make a wrap using the beans and mushroom recipe.

If you are using Tortillas, place a few spoons of the same stir-fry, top it off with freshly diced tomatoes, cilantro leaves, cucumber and turn it into a wrap.

RECIPE DIFFICULTY -EASY

Oyster Mushroom and green bean stir-fry.

4 tablespoons of oil

A bag of oyster mushrooms

250g of Beans

4 sliced Garlic cloves

1/2 teaspoon of Pepper powder

1/4 cup water

1/2 teaspoon of Hoisin sauce

Salt to season

Method

Shred the Oyster mushrooms into required size and set aside(avoid washing them).

Wash, trim the beans and cut them into equal size then, cut these individual beans in half so the seeds are exposed.

Place a skillet over low-medium heat and pour a tablespoon of oil.

Let the oil heat, then add the shredded Oyster mushrooms into the pan.

Season with salt and sauté over medium-high heat until the edges of the Mushroom turn brown and slightly crispy 3-5 minutes.

Once they turn brown, transfer them into a separate bowl, place the same pan over low-medium heat.

Pour two tablespoons of oil, heat, then add slivers of garlic sauté for 2-3 minutes over low-medium heat.

Mix the Hoisin sauce with water and pour over the sautéed garlic, followed by Beans then pepper, season with salt if necessary(make sure to add less as the sauce is also salty).

Once the water is completely reduced and the beans are cooked, add crispy Mushrooms, mix and cook both ingredients over very low heat for 2-3 minutes. taste and season with salt if necessary.

Serve warm, you can try the two meal ideas given above with this bean mushroom bean stir-fry.
