Monday lunch Bowl-10

Although not representing an authentic Srilankan meal, today’s lunch bowl is going to be a hit with these combined flavors, it was definitely a case of clean plates at our home.

Scroll down to Recipe time should you wish to avoid thoughts and life in general by Mama to the terrible four or you can read on..

The following thoughts are not meant to offend, taken as a religious point of view or a sermon rather they are mere thoughts of a mother looking at the world around her, there is no agenda behind it, she just gave free rein to her fingers to write her troubled thoughts.

She owns this tiny space between the image and recipe to write whatever is on her mind and today her mind is on the world. She is reluctant to use any social media to represent her beliefs and refuses to follow the norm, hence these lines in memory and respect to lives lost around the world.

You who have lost someone dear, my prayers are with you, no matter where or who you are, irrelevant of color, caste, religion, nationality or ethnicity, if you are mourning the loss of a loved one because of callous humans or the force of mother nature past and present, my thoughts and prayers are with you, now and always.

There is evil in this world that comes in many faces, always with an agenda, hate, greed, ideals and utter ignorance. The innocent, the one’s who want to live as you and I do are the one to suffer, they are the victims of a chain reaction caused by power and war mongerers, the heartless who have forgotten a simple fact that there is no religion or ideal teaching humans to harm another.

There are nations mourning the death of their own, struggling to make sense of what happened, a daughter, son, friends gone in seconds, mothers, fathers crying out for their loved one’s, not willing to believe, the one they loved who stood right next to them is forever gone because of one deliberate act of violence.

Somewhere, families, mothers and children watch and wait in fear of the backlash and hate caused by this same act.

With cold feet , cold hands, numb minds, somewhere a family travels on foot in search of safety, no food, no protection from the harsh environment, risking their lives to reach safety sometimes crossing large bodies of water in dingy boats for their families often loosing  babies and loved one’s, the very reason they started the journey in the first place for. Children who should be smiling, playing and simply growing happy, feeling safe are orphans, homeless and hungry, their eyes a story of despair without hope.

Where there was a home now stands rubbles, a family lives with nothing but what they’ve found among the stones.

Spurts of violence around this one planet we call home is gradually but surely being destroyed, first goes the trees, the waters, then the beasts and now the humans, power and control is addictive it blinds the conscience and there lies the reasons for lives being cut short, there is no need for an army to cause such mayhem just a few merciless manipulators in high places to play their games, moving pieces, placing them for maximum chaos, the ripples of their games are far-reaching, be it an infant, child or adult, this could be me, my family or you and yours. they don’t care, they really don’t care.

Before I move on to lighter matters,

My name is Jehan Yusoof, I am a Muslim, my religion is Islam, we believe in “the one” and stand by what our faith represents and that is peace. If you know me or my family or if there’s a Muslim family in your neighborhood and you’ve known them for years, please don’t ask us to justify our faith and pass judgement by the actions of a few misguided, Not god fearing humans. For all the years you’ve known one of us, have we or the muslims you know ever hurt you in actions or deeds?

And finally, Social media is a powerful tool to show the world what you feel, please use it responsibly, it can be used to spread love as well as hate. the choice is yours, It is time to stand for humanity for the sake of our children.
