I’ve kept the ingredients to make this salsa recipe to a minimum and easy to find at any time in your kitchen.

But if you want to add more flavour, then here are a few other ingredients you can add to the salsa.

  • Add some chopped mango to the mix to make a tropical salsa.
  • A can of corn drained and dropped into the salsa will feed a crowd.
  • Avocado chopped into the salsa will give you creaminess and make it a chunky dip.
  • To add crunch, you can add chopped colourful red bell pepper or cucumber slices.
  • Add chopped mint or coriander to give the pineapple salsa a unique flavour.
  • Can I make the pineapple salsa ahead of time?
    • I would suggest having all the elements of the salsa chopped and refrigerated in separate bowls.
    • 30 minutes before serving time you can combine all the ingredients in a bowl. this keeps the salsa fresh.
  • Can I use canned pineapple?
    • You can but the texture and color are a little different when it comes to canned pineapple. choose canned pineapple if it simplifies things for you.

1 whole medium-sized pineapple cut into 1/2 an ich cubes(2 cups)

1 large onion, chopped into smaller pieces(1/2 a cup)

1-2 green chillies (remove if you want to keep the pineapple salsa sweet and mild)

2 large tomatoes chopped(remove the seeds and use the chunky part of the tomato)

Salt to season

1/2 teaspoon of red chilli powder substituted with sweet paprika

2 tablespoons of lime juice(use as needed)

1 small clove of garlic, minced

1 teaspoon of sugar(if your pineapple is slightly raw and lacks sweetness)
