Beginner’s tips on making chocolate crinkle cookies.

  • All ingredients need to be at room temperature.

  • Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl and then sift the cocoa powder into the same bowl.

  • Once the chocolate crinkle cookie dough is made, it will be sticky, for this purpose you will need to chill the cookie dough for 3-5 hours.

  • Baking time can vary by minutes depending on altitude and the type of oven you use.

  • Testing for correct for accurate baking time for your oven.
If I’m not sure of the exact baking time and wanted to avoid a batch of cookies, I usually bake a single cookie to verify and adjust the baking time.
This allows me to adjust the baking time if it turns out too soft or too dry.

  • Once the baking time is over, check on the crinkle cookies. Even if they look a little soft, take them out and place them on a cooling rack, as the remaining heat will continue to harden the cookies.
