How to make bbq(barbecue)sauce

Please make sure to read the recipe instructions at least once to avoid mistakes.

The ingredients mentioned below use standard measuring cups and spoons.

2 cups of tomato sauce(also known as ketchup)

1 tablespoon of white vinegar

1 teaspoon of black pepper powder

2 tablespoons of red chilli powder(reduce to bring down the heat)

1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon of garlic powder(substitute with minced garlic, once the sauce is made strain to remove the garlic pieces)

1/4 cup of brown sugar

3 tablespoons of honey

Salt to season

2 tablespoons of oil(light sunflower oil, white coconut oil. use an oil that is light and doesn’t carry a heavy odor, eg: avoid using certain coconut oil with a yellow tinge)

1/4 teaspoon of mustard powder(make your own by grinding 1 teaspoon of mustard seed)

Method

To a heavy-bottomed pan add the tomato sauce(also known as ketchup, 2 cups),
vinegar(1 tbsp), red chilli powder(2 tbsp, can reduce to bring down the spiciness of the bbq sauce),
pepper powder(1 tsp), Worcestershire sauce(1 tbsp).

oil(2 tbsp, light sunflower oil, white coconut oil. use an oil that is light and doesn’t carry a heavy odor, eg: certain coconut oil with a yellow tinge), and salt to season.

Once all the ingredients to the spicy barbecue sauce are added into the pan, cook over low-medium heat for 7-10 minutes or until sugar dissolves and the sauce thickens.

Stir frequently.

Add the mustard powder(1/4 tsp) and stir, season with salt.

Taste often and make the necessary adjustments as you need.

Remove sauce from stove, let it cool and transfer to a bottle.
