Tomato onions-green chilli salad(sambol).

Tomato onion and green chillies salad or sambol as we like to call it makes a quick and easy Sri Lankan salad you’ll ever make and a great rice puller for your meals.

This is one of those dishes that come together without a recipe(I promise there is a reason to add such a simple dish).

All you need is your cutting board and a bowl to make this spicy Sri Lankan salad.

Spicy Onion and tomato salad.

If there were two ingredients I constantly use a lot, they are onions and tomatoes.

I love the combination because it hits all the spots of my favourite taste buds.

Give me a toast slathered in butter topped with a seriously spicy onion and tomato salad anytime and I’ll be happy to call it a quick snack.

You can also use the salad as a side dish to your Sri Lankan meals.

It’s what brings all the different tastes together and adds a serious punch to the meal.

There’s nothing elaborate or complicated about this sambol, in fact, it will only take you less than 10 minutes to put it together.

The same sambol can do wonders as a good topping for burgers and grilled fish as well.

So if you love heat, tomatoes, and onions then this sambol will be your favourite for the next couple of months.

I want to just express my appreciation for Island Smile and the author. This is my go-to for well explained, simple, authentic dishes for mealtime!

I am a student busy with further studies so I do not have the time to go in-depth into cooking due to time constraints, but this allows me to surprise my loved ones every time. It manages to convey everything in a concise manner but without leaving anything important out! Thank you very much.

In my grocery store, they do not have anything labeled “green chilies”...do you know the exact kind of pepper I could use? Would jalapeños work, or poblano? Thank you. This looks delicious and I’m excited to try it!

hello Mrs Remy, I don't see an issue in using either of the two peppers mentioned, as long as you can handle the spiciness of the chicken curry. what I refer to as green chillie here is more like the Thai bird's eye chillie. Hope you enjoy making the curry and let me know if you run into any issues, the quickest way to contact me would be to message me through the blog fb page. Regards, J
